Are they as good as the originals?- Ours are BETTER & Stronger than the originals!
Originals were cast with around a 5/16-3/8 wall thickness, ours have a 1/2" A36 Material wall thickness.
Ours are fabricated, welded and turned, to be perfectly round, the originals are not. Ours are fabricated out of 1/2" welded rings turned and indicated, the sprocket teeth themselves are cut from 1" AR (Abrasion resistant steel) the toughest available for this application today - this steel was not available back in the 1940's.
Our outer sprocket reinforcement for the inner diameter is 1" material instead of 1/2" material on the originals.
After fabrication all joints on our sprockets are welded and turned as necessary. When viewed spinning in the lathe, ours run much more accurately than the originals.
Will they look like originals? - Originals were cast, ours will have welds, which is the only visual difference you will notice. The first set you see in the pictures does not have the water holes, all production sprockets will have these holes. Once finished and painted, only a true sprocket "expert" will notice a difference, and then only when looking very closely.
